The Indian team is currently on a tour of New Zealand and is preparing for the ODI series following the conclusion of the T20 matches. The upcoming series is considered important for both teams in the context of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
However, before the start of the ODI series, a claim involving Gill has attracted attention on social media. A video featuring a female fan is circulating widely, in which she claims that she asked the Indian captain for a photograph but was turned down.
What makes the incident particularly interesting is that the woman is the same fan who had earlier engaged in a heated argument with Pakistani spinner Abrar Ahmed over Shubman Gill during the Champions Trophy 2025.
In the viral video, the woman recounts her experience in a visibly disappointed and sarcastic tone. She claims that she had even confronted Pakistani bowler Abrar Ahmed in New Zealand while defending Gill.
According to her account, she recently approached Gill in New Zealand and asked him for a photograph, saying, "Shubham bhai, mujhe aapke saath ek photo chahiye" (Shubman bhai, I want a photograph with you).

However, she claims that the Indian captain declined her request and simply said, "Sorry."
The fan expressed her disappointment over Gill's response, saying that she did not find his behaviour appropriate.
The viral video also refers to an incident during the India-Pakistan match in the Champions Trophy 2025. According to the claim made in the video, Pakistani spinner Abrar Ahmed had given Gill an aggressive send-off after dismissing him during the match.
The woman had reportedly confronted Abrar Ahmed over the incident while defending the Indian captain, making the alleged refusal by Gill to take a photograph with her particularly striking in her account.
The video has since gained traction on social media, drawing attention to the fan's claims ahead of the India-New Zealand ODI series.
